Quiet Spaces

Asheville

A Quiet Respite

This house previously had dark olive green floors (that were OAK underneath! when does that happen?), sage walls and was cold in the winter and no real kitchen to cook in. Corner sink that broke backs. The floors were newly sanded before installing a new kitchen and wood stove. For the kitchen design I extended the wall out a bit to make room for the fridge and tall ceiling height cabinets on the one side, we covered a redundant door out to the deck and I left the rest of the cabinet design, counter height only to keep it light in the space. The house is really bright and formerly, the kitchen was so dark. For the other parts of the house, organic warm elements are used to style and make more quiet spaces. Hand crafted wares and furniture. We had an excellent cabinet maker and can share more of that process if you like. Photos by Caitlin Atkinson with some later on by myself as I wanted to show the shelves I installed (myself) and more of my styling. Enjoy.
