About

“It’s likely you’ve seen Beth Mullins work even if you are one of the few individuals who haven’t heard her name. Her deft use of concrete and grade have graced the pages of countless magazines and Pinterest boards. She has a considered, clean, articulate style that makes her work both instantly recognizable and often copied. She is the king of the modern organic garden. I met Beth while working in the nursery at Ruth Bancroft Garden . Even though she was an acclaimed designer and I was just starting my career in design, she was kind and welcoming, something that is rare in any field. We quickly became friends and bonded over our love of plants as a design tool and the belief that gardens should be easy for people to enjoy. While she is the master of creating beautiful, usable spaces on the steepest of hillsides, she knows that in the end, plants can make or break a design. Her restrained yet interesting plant palettes always provide just the right amount of lush softness to her gardens. Like many of the designers featured in the book, I am so grateful that we crossed paths at Ruth Bancroft Garden Nursery . Plant people are the best.”

Art is an integral way for her to process connections and spaces with her hands as an extension of her design and building concepts to create unique sculptural and functional vessels. The carving, the math, the science is all part of her design training and art process.
