Modern Eichler Garden

This garden was featured in the San Mateo Eichler Home Tour in May 2014 and was in collaboration with the client who also has a design eye. In the redesign, we wanted their family to have full use of the space. The large patio adjacent to the house creates room for entertaining and play and then leads into different areas of function. The deck surrounding the hot tub leads to a rock garden, partially filtered by plantings in a raised ipe planter. The clients' collection of mid century Gainey planters were arranged on the patio to bring color to the gray concrete. The Heath Ceramics tile from the client’s collection were used on the vertical wall of the concrete benches finishes the modern look, and fits the beautiful Eichler aesthetic. A modern shed by Modern Spaces and Sheds is used by the artist in the family as a studio space. Read more about this garden in Gardenista.
